Founder/Treasure

Charles Albert

Charles was born in Alamosa, Colorado and grew up on a ranch near the little town of Moffat. There he learned the importance of  a focused work ethic and the realities of ‘reaping what you sow.’  This underpinning of ethics and values has served him well throughout his life.

After graduating from High School he enrolled at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.  There he studied engineering + construction management and received his BS Degree.   Subsequently, he completed a year of active military duty in the Colorado National Guard in the Signal Corp.

His work experience includes:  American Metals Climax in the mining industry (Colorado Mountains), General Electric in the Missile and Space Division (Missouri and Lousiana), Nuclear Energy Division (San Jose California), and  he was invited to participate in the design of a power plant near Washington, D.C.

While working and gaining valuable experience with large corporations, the entrepreneurial spirit caught hold in his heart and he determined to move his family to Durango, Colorado (just hours from his birthplace) to venture out on his own.  His strong values, extraordinary work ethic, and understanding of the ‘Law of the Harvest’ served him well.  He ventured into the Hotel Business-- investing in real estate (as both developer and property manager) where he grew a substantial and very successful business.

As a member of and serving with Rotary International and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he has gained an understanding of the needs of families in Latin America.  From his humanitarian and missionary experience in Mexico, Guatemala, Chile, Nicaragua, Honduras, and other countries he developed a passion for serving these people.

Earlier in his life while working with General Electric on projects  near New Orleans (Louisana) he met, courted, and married his wife Judy.  They have been married 50+ years and are the proud parents of two sons and grandparents of six grandchildren.

While learning about life, sowing, hard work, and reaping-- on the ranch and farm in Colorado, Charles made a determination decades ago that a portion of his ‘harvest’ is meant to be dedicated to the lifting of humanity in the world.  He founded and supports Fundacion San Mateo as well other worthy causes.  Charles continues to invest into education with the desire to help those served to improve their lives and families.  He hopes to  be remembered as one who cares about others and who has sought to give those with less opportunity, a helping hand.
